Stranraer Cancer Drop-In Centre

Stranraer Cancer Drop-In Centre is a true lifeline for Stranraer and surrounding communities, supporting anyone affected by cancer, including patients, families, and friends. The centre offers invaluable help through practical advice, emotional support, and financial guidance. It also runs support groups, hosts activities, provides funding grants, and offers free alternative therapies such as acupuncture and reiki. Much of this work is delivered by dedicated volunteers. Supporting hundreds, if not thousands, of people each year.

Margaret Ann McCulloch

After more than 20 years of extraordinary service, Stranraer Golf Club has bid a fond farewell to a true icon, Margaret Ann McCulloch. Far more than a familiar face, she has been the heartbeat of the club, showing a level of dedication and commitment that is rare to find. From early mornings until late evenings, Margaret Ann worked tirelessly behind the scenes, always welcoming members and guests with her trademark warmth and smile and she is now entering a well‑deserved retirement.

Lochryan Pipe Band

In less than a decade, Lochryan Pipe Band has faced dramatic change, from Champion of Champions in 2018 to rebuilding after significant challenges following the Covid pandemic. Over the past year, dedicated efforts by John Harvey, Scott McCaig and Murray Stewart. have helped revive the band and reintroduce pipes and drums to the local community. Through work in Stranraer primary schools, new young members have joined and performed at major local events, gaining confidence and skills. Bringing together people aged 6 to 60, the band offers a supportive, intergenerational environment and has laid strong foundations for the future, deserving recognition for its achievements

Janice McCaig

For over 30 years, Janice McCaig has been the heart and soul of Portpatrick RNLI. Her tireless dedication to fundraising and volunteering has made her one of the most recognisable and cherished members of the community. From running the RNLI gift shop and leading the annual raffle to organising the much‑loved Lifeboat Week tombola, Janice gives countless hours to support the cause. She also volunteers widely across the community, embodying true selflessness and commitment. Known as “the face of Portpatrick Lifeboat,” Janice is a shining example of community spirit and dedication
